THE ROLE

Quell is looking for a Senior Research Associate to join the Process & Analytical Research team. This individual will work in the Analytical Research sub-team to help to develop new assays and optimise current processes. The Process & Analytical Research team provides a key function to transfer knowledge and activities between the R&D and CMC departments. The successful candidate will work closely with the other sub-teams within Process & Analytical Research to conduct experiments, analyse data, and present findings. They will also collaborate with other teams in R&D and CMC to progress our understanding of our cellular products.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Culture primary T-cells.
  • Support optimisation of methods for Analytical Research.
  • Assess product parameters through various assays e.g. multi-parameter Flow Cytometry.
  • Isolate primary cells using immunomagnetic technologies and FACS.
  • Perform immunological cell-based assays.
  • Provide technical support for assay setup, protocol optimisation and troubleshooting.
  • Analyse data in a timely manner and present findings at team/departmental meetings.
  • Maintain highly organised and detailed documentation of experimental procedures. Collaborate and coordinate work with other teams to meet deadlines and goals.
  • Help to maintain the laboratories to a high standard.
  • Manage databases and assist in establishing relevant SOPs.
  • Provide guidance and training to new or junior staff

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE, TECHNICAL & EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION

  • Master’s degree in Immunology or related subject and 1 year or 3 years of relevant industry experience. Alternatively, Bachelor’s degree in Immunology or related subject and 2 years or 5 years of relevant industry experience.

Experience & Technical Requirements – Essential (E), Preferred (P)

· Solid understanding of cell biology. E

· Competent understanding of immunology. E

· Solid understanding of T-cell biology. P

· Competent handling of mammalian and primary human immune cell cultures using aseptic techniques. E

· Good understanding of and skilled with multi-parameter Flow Cytometry. E

· Familiarity with data analysis software such as Prism, FlowJo and/or FCS express. E

· Experience with immunological cell-based assays. E

· Understanding of process optimisation and assay development. P

· Ability to efficiently identify and implement solutions. P

· Excellent organisational skills to adhere to deadlines and reach goals. E

· Excellent time and project management skills aligned with an ability to prioritise activities. P

· Ability to work co-operatively as part of a team as well as independently. E

· Professional and personable communication skills. E

· Good attention to detail and record keeping. E

· Previous experience using electronic lab notebooks. P
