OUR COMPANY

Quell was founded in March 2019 in partnership with six prominent immunological experts from King’s College London, University College London, and Hannover Medical School, and is led by Iain McGill, a leading pharmaceutical executive with extensive relevant experience, having spent most of his 25 years in the industry in immunology, including the areas of solid organ and cell transplantation. The Company was founded with initial series A financing, led by Syncona Ltd who committed £34M with a further £1M contributed by UCL Technology Fund.

THE ROLE

Project Manager

We are offering a multidisciplinary project management role, with full exposure to our executive and senior management team. You will be expected to collaboratively generate project plans, delivering upon these structured development programmes for promising CAR Treg cell therapies. You will report directly to our SVP, Research & Translation, and play a core part in fostering communication across teams. This is a highly visible role across the company with a big opportunity to impact the future success of the organisation. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about helping to develop innovative cell therapies therapeutic projects for the treatment of Immune Dysregulation and who want to play a pivotal role in delivering these new therapies to the clinic.

You will be a clear thinker and natural problem solver, with demonstrated experience of generating and delivering on critical project plans using your scientific expertise. You may have experience of working in a full-time project management role or you could have gained your project management exposure through a secondment or within the remit of your current position. We are very open to applicants without a formal ‘Project Management’ title on their CV, with our focus on the skills and attributes you can bring to this position. 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will take full responsibility for the day-to-day management of the assigned projects and programmes, and in addition, will:

  • Work closely with all relevant internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of project outputs to schedule
  • Develop detailed work breakdown structures and project plans to ensure delivery of agreed outcomes, working closely with SMEs, senior managers and the executive team
  • Identify appropriate knowledge within and externally to Quell to generate coherent project plans
  • Identify and co-ordinate suitable resource to deliver on projects
  • Lead high performing, collaborative project teams including both internal and external team members to deliver and adapt to situations to ensure correct project delivery
  • Maintain a high level of communication to all stakeholders, within the project team and the executive team

EXPERIENCE WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Strong project management capabilities in early-stage development, developed through working in biotech or biopharma
  • Experience within the cell and gene therapy sector, gained either through post-doctoral placements or employment in the field
  • Solid scientific and technical expertise, with the ability to use this knowledge to problem solve
  • A flexible approach to work assignments. An ability to manage multiple and varied tasks and to prioritise the workload whilst maintaining attention to detail
  • Proven ability to consistently deliver projects to time, cost and quality standards
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with peers, senior managers and project team members

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Educated to a higher Degree level in a life sciences subject
  • Advanced IT skills/highly competent project management software user
  • Project Management qualifications such as PMP, PRINCE2 etc., would be an advantage

  • Flexible and pragmatic, able to learn quickly and respond to project needs and priorities
  • The ability to work independently and to be able to take the initiative when completing tasks
