THE ROLE
Scientist II – Research Method Development Team
Quell is looking for a Scientist II to join the Research Method Development team. This individual will report to the Associate Director of Product Research and will help to develop new assays and optimise current processes. The Method Development team provides a key function to transfer knowledge and activities between the R&D and CMC departments. The successful candidate will work closely with the other sub-teams within Product Research to conduct experiments, analyse data, and present findings. They will also collaborate with other teams in R&D and CMC to progress our understanding of our cellular products.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, develop and optimise methods for Product Research.
- Perform immunological cell-based assays.
- Provide scientific expertise for assay development and technical expertise for optimisation and troubleshooting.
- Critically analyse data in a timely manner and present findings at team/departmental meetings.
- Maintain highly organised and detailed documentation of experimental procedures and assist in establishing relevant SOPs.
- Collaborate and coordinate work with other teams to meet deadlines and goals.
- Transfer of methods and assays to other teams.
- Stay up-to-date with literature and new technologies within the cell therapy field.
- Help to maintain the laboratories to a high standard.
- Provide guidance and training to new or junior staff.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Solid understanding of T-cell biology.
- Good understanding of immunology.
- Demonstrable experience with assay development and process optimisation.
- Competent handling of mammalian and primary human immune cell cultures using aseptic techniques.
- Demonstrable experience with immunological cell-based assays.
- Solid understanding of and skilled with multi-parameter Flow Cytometry.
- Demonstrable experience with building large (15+ colour) Flow Cytometry panels.
- Familiarity with data analysis softwares such as Prism and FlowJo.
- Excellent organisational skills to adhere to deadlines and reach goals.
- Work co-operatively as part of a team as well as independently.
- Good attention to detail and record keeping.
- PhD in Immunology or related subject and 3 year of relevant industry experience.
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Solid understanding of Treg biology.
- Experience with the use of the Cytek Aurora and NxT Attune flow cytometers.
- Excellent time and project management skills aligned with an ability to prioritise activities.
- Ability to efficiently identify and implement solutions.
- Previous experience using electronic lab notebooks.
- Proven commitment to high quality work and maintenance of high standards.
